Chapter 863: "Let go of me!" "Hadley..." Without warning, Hadley grabbed the strawberry milkshake from the table and threw it straight at Eric. The pale pink liquid splattered across his head and face.
She let out a soft, cold laugh, tore herself free from his grip, and bolted for the door.
"Hadley!" Eric didn't spare a second for the mess dripping from him. He snatched the down jacket she'd left behind on the chair and ran after her. "Hadley, stop!" But she kept running, not once glancing back.

"It's freezing, Hadley!" Eric fired back.
Hadley cto a halt, trembling from head to toe. She glared at him, not sure if the shaking cmore from the cold or from her anger.
"Just put on the jacket. Please," Eric implored. Worried she might take off again, he added, "You still need to take care of Joy. She's not in the best health. If you get sick and pass it to her, you'll be the one hurting the most. Isn't that right?" That did it.
Hadley let out a shaky breath, opened her arms, and slipped on the jacket. She then zipped it up without a word and walked straight ahead. Eric kept his head down and followed her quietly.
Just then, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a message from Phillips about the investigation results.
Eric opened Whatand looked at the picture Phillips had sent. He tapped to enlarge it. "The reason you were with me... It's for Joy, right?" Hadley's lithe frgrew rigid as she spun around, her face a delicate dance of tears and bitter smiles. "Yes, you've always had a knack for catching on quick." "Hadley." Eric's brow creased in an instant, concern etching deep lines across his forehead.
Her lips twisted into a frosty smile.
"But I never spun you a tale. I made it crystal clear ages ago-I don't fancy En. you anymore."
From the very outset, when he had stubbornly clung to her side, she had laid her cards on the table more times than she could count! She had spelled it out for him—and Nyla too! With a laugh as sharp as a winter wind, Hadley quipped, "What is this, then? Cto settle old scores?"
"Hadley!" Eric's expression shifted like storm clouds rolling in. "That is not what I meant at all! His voice m dropped to a husky murmur as he a knitted his brows tighter. "I've pieced it all together now-I know about your ectopic pregnancy..." Hadley had stayed with him for Joy's sake. And Joy, battling aplastic anemia, was a truth he had also carried for so long.
