Chapter 1385
The timing of Mrs. Perez's illness seemed almost too convenient. Could she be faking it?
The thought struck Quincy, and he decided he needed to investigate further without raising suspicion.
Not long after he left, Mrs. Perez got up, unaware that her actions had aroused her son's suspicions. She was
busy consulting with the doctor about her plan. "When you're with my son, make sure to play up the seriousness
of my condition. Otherwise, he'll keep leaning toward that little troublemaker."
"Don't worry, we go way back. | won't let you down." The doctor thumped his chest in reassurance. "But actually,
| could use a hand myself. My son's studying abroad, and we're a bit short on funds. Do you think you could lend
a little? I'll pay you back after | get my bonus this year."

Mrs. Perez brushed off his concern with ease, agreeing right away. After all, she had money to spare. When
Quincy had worked as an assistant, he had sent her a portion of his paycheck each month. Now that he had his
own business, his contributions had only increased.
Because she didn't lack for anything, she becfixated on finding the "perfect" daughter-in-law. "Don't worry
about payingback. Pay it when you can. We've been friends a long time. | trust you," she reassured the
doctor. After leaving the room, the doctor shook his head. "Speople don't know how good they have it," he
thought.
If Quincy were his son, married to a wonderful woman and set for life financially, he would be hrelaxing,
fishing, playing cards, enjoying the good life! But he wasn't Mrs. Perez, and as an outsider, he chose not to get
involved. Meanwhile, Lydia got up the next morning, packed a few things, and headed to the travel agency,
suitcase in hand.
A tour bus was waiting, and once everyone had arrived, the driver took them to the airport. Though the agency
had booked economy seats, Lydia paid extra to upgrade to first class. As she looked out at the blue sky and
clouds, she thought to
herself that may
being on her own
wasn't so bad.
After this trip, she was determined to get back to work and stick to her plans. She would not let Quincy or
anyone else disrupt her peace.

A few hours later, the plane landed, and Lydia found herself swept into a whirlwind of activity with the group. The
tour's schedule was packed, and soon enough, any lingering thoughts slipped away.
After a wild horseback ride through the grasslands, with her only focus on keeping hold of the reins, all her
worries and frustrations vanished.
While Lydia was out enjoying herself, Eugene's mood couldn't have been worse. Back home, he had finally told
his parents about his plan to marry her.
His parents, both products of a
typical arranged marriage, hadn't been close before their wedding, and weren't exactly close now. Even their
child had been conceived through IVF. They had always led separate lives, but, on this topic, they were in rare
agreement.
"I don't care who you marry as long as they're well-matched and will benefit the family." "And make sure the
wedding's grand enough," his mother added. "We have a reputation to uphold."
